‘Ground Zero 360’ exhibit open in Indianapolis

first_imgIndianapolis, In. — Indianapolis mayor Joe Hogsett with state and local leaders took part in a tree planting ceremony at the Indiana War Memorial over the weekend in remembrance of those who lost their lives during the 9/11 attacks 17 years ago.The tree planted during the ceremony is a sapling from a Callery pear tree that withstood the 9/11 attacks and was replanted in 2010 at the Memorial in New York City after much rehabilitation by the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation.“The tree was once burned and broken and now has smooth, blossoming branches,” said Paul McCormack, Retired NYPD Deputy Inspector. “The sapling from the tree that is now planted in Hoosier soil in commemoration of the lives lost on September 11, 2001, stands as living proof of America’s resiliency and survival in the face of terror.”McCormack made the journey to Indiana with family members of first responders who lost their lives during the deadliest terror attack on American soil. They are traveling the United States with the Ground Zero 360 Exhibition. The Ground Zero 360 Exhibit is comprised of photos, stories and donated artifacts from 9/11, allowing Hoosiers to take a step back in the past and feel what 8 million New Yorkers were feeling in the days that followed the attacks in 2001 and cost 3,000 Americans their lives.“The Ground Zero 360 Exhibit serves as a powerful reminder of the tragedy that our country faced on September 11th, 2001,” said Mayor Joe Hogsett. “In the wake of the attacks that September morning, brave Hoosiers stepped forward, as they always do, to assist their brothers and sisters in critical rescue and recovery efforts. Now, with the planting of this tree, we will have a permanent reminder of the incredible courage shown by first responders in our country’s time of need.”Hoosiers can visit the Ground Zero 360 Exhibit now through February of 2019. The survivor tree planted at the Indiana War Memorial will be a permanent remembrance of those who paid the ultimate price and as a tribute to the Hoosiers that joined in the rescue efforts after 9/11.For more information go online here.last_img read more

“I wanted my contract with Barça to continue”

first_imgThe Turk adds that Lionel Messi is the best player he played in his career. “It is not necessary to say anything else about Messi. He is the best player I have ever seen. I also admire Iniesta, for her field skills. In Atlético, Koke is a very important player. He has managed to be in the first team in Atlético and has become a leader. I was impressed with his growth, “he said.Arda Turan also praised Radamel Falcao, who was his partner in Atlético: “He is an exceptional striker. I said the same thing when I was injured. I talked to him a few times over the phone to sign for Galatasaray. Now he has to do what he has to do as a striker, scored goals and assists, he is one of the best in the world, I always help him. I invited him to my birthday with his family and we celebrated it together. I also helped Adriano when he was at Besiktas and Diego Ribas at Fenerbahce, “he said. Arda Turan has made statements about his future at the football level and emphasized the fact that he is still a player of FC Barcelona. “I am now a Barcelona player because of the contract. It was a mutual decision. I wanted to continue my contract with Barça. Probably I will continue playing in a foreign team next season, outside of Turkey but, if Galatasaray calls me, I’m ready to meet and without conditions. Galatasaray is the only club that I would not put conditions on, “he said.Arda Turan said that the league title with Atlético de Madrid is the most special trophy of his professional career. “Frankly it was an exceptional success for me. We won the league with Atlético against Real Madrid with Ronaldo and Barca with Messi. It was a fantastic season. We also got five or six drinks in Europe. I think that the beginning of this successful era is the Copa del Rey that we won at the Santiago Bernabéu against Real Madrid. It is special for me. It makes me proud as the victory against Islanda that we achieved with Turkey. The Copa del Rey is very special for me, “he said recalling his stage as a rojiblanco. From there he took Cholo Simeone, which Arda Turan considers very special. “Both Fatih Terim and Diego Pablo Simeone are very special technicians. Cholo never gives up. He is a leader and a person full of energy. He can convey his idea to his players in a very intense way. He is always able to motivate you. In my career, Terim and Simeone are the first. “last_img read more
