Thanks to the new Flexenbahn lift between Stuben/Rauz and Zürs, winter sports enthusiasts will be able to explore the entire Arlberg area, known as ‘the cradle of alpine skiing’.The full dimensions of this interlinked ski region can be best experienced along the “Run of Fame”. With 65 kilometres of runs and 18,000 metres in altitude difference, this new ski circuit leads through the entire Arlberg ski area. The Ski Arlberg common tariff system has been in place for many years, although the ski connection between Tyrolean St Anton and Zürs in Vorarlberg was previously only possible by road. When building of the 1.8-kilometre-long Flexenbahn and the two Trittkopfbahnen lifts commences in spring 2016, winter sports enthusiasts will be able to take advantage of an integrated ski infrastructure between the two world famous ski resorts. Thanks to the equally new Albonabahn II, the northern slopes of Albona will be more quickly accessible in future. Instead of starting from Stuben, powder fans can set off from Alpe Rauz. These connections give rise to a spectacular ski circuit: with 65 kilometres of runs and 18,000 metres in altitude difference, the “Run of Fame” leads through the entire Arlberg ski area. Even the most proficient skier will need a whole day to ski from the southernmost point in St Anton/Rendl to Warth in the north and back again. The circuit can be accessed from almost anywhere and “Run of Fame” info-points and signposts will be installed. “Run of Fame” stars will also remind skiers of Arlberg’s greatest ski legends – as the track is dedicated to sporting stars such as Hannes Schneider, Karl Schranz and Mario Matt.Go back to the e-newsletterlast_img
